Yes I'm finally back.
I had a run of up and down weeks and lost faith for a while, but I am back with a vengence and something to brag about.
In what can only be seen as a contrast to the national average, I managed to shrink over Easter!
Weighing in yesterday morning I was 107.3kg with a BMI of 33.87. This is the lowest that I have been since the BB started keeping track of my weight in September of last year.
I hope, now that I have recommenced blogging, that it will continue.
I normally I grow over school holidays rather than shrinking. Hopefully, this week will be different.
Have a great week,
Geddington.

Welcome back, shrink followers!
After an unexplained week off, I am back into the Monday weigh in today.
Two Thursdays ago I cleaned out the sports shed at school in 38 degree heat. It took the greater part of the day (while I didn't have classes) and I finally gave up when my brain and energy did at 5pm. Unfortunatley it still took half an hour to get everything back in to the shed.
Anyway, the reason that I didn't weigh in the following Monday is that I lost two kilos on that Thursday (in sweat, basically) and knew that it would throw the figures out for a week or so as I replaced the water.
Anyway, back to the regular weigh ins.
BB tells me this morning that I am down to 110.4kg with a BMI of 34.84.
So good to be under the 35.
I am up to 3 times a week walking on the treadmill during Biggest Loser.
More to come.
Thanks for the support.
Will try to blog more often, give you a little more of myself.
Ge'd.

Holding Steady
If we thought last week was slow, this week was worse.
Numbers exactly the same as last week, except WiiFit age is now 36.
Suppose that holding steady was great after hosting the Mel-Brooks-a-thon on Saturday night (and Sunday morning). Having the boys over was great and we must do it again - maybe a comedy or action night.
Any way, there was a lot of party food this weekend, and not so much exercise during the week.
More focus for this week. Must walk while watching the fatties.

Shrinking .......... slowly
Today's entry comes under the category of "a loss is still a loss". Luckily we started getting some "Biggest Loser" inspiration last night. Hopefully this week will be better.
BB this morning tells me that I am down another 100g to 111.3kg and a BMI of 35.13 - a loss of 1kg for the last two weeks (which is actually pretty steady - dispite the fact that it was 900g last week and 100g this week). Experts recommend 1/2 a kilo a week as being a safe rate of weight loss.
For those of you playing at home, my WiiFit age was 34, as is my real age, so not bad.
School is back now, thank God, so things may take on some normalcy. That and the party season is over for a while (Brini's second yesterday was good fun, but too many party pies and icecream cake probably ruined a good week.
Don't know if I mentioned my Plantar Fasciitis, but I bought a bizare sock to sleep in and it is starting to get better finally. So know that I'm not in pain everytime I get up exercise should be easier. The plan is to walk on the treadmill every time I watch "The Biggest Loser". If you are like me and need to see less of yourself, why don't you try doing something requiring energy while you are watching something you like (or join me watching the losers).
'til next week,
Be good and don't get hit by a bus.

Monday Weigh-in
Good Monday morning to you all and Happy Australia Day to those of you that really matter!
For those of you who are not Australian, Australia Day is the second most important day of the year - the day when the First Fleet landed at the Botany Bay Colony. It is second because the most important day for a Western Australian is Foundation Day on June 1st. The day celebrates the arrival of European settlers at the Swan River Colony in 1829 and, therefore, the beginning of the great state of Western Australia.
For those of you who are thinking that the country is surely more important than the state - not according to the constitution. I am Western Australian first and Australian second. In fact, I think we should be the Commonwealth of Westralia - our own country - but don't get me started.
Anyway, weighed in this morning and here are the important numbers.
Remembering that this challenge started with me at 112.5kg and a BMI of 35.48, this morning I was down to: 111.4kg with a BMI of 35.16 and a WiiFit age (for those of you playing along) of 40, which is, of course, 6 years more that I really am.
I am happy to have won back the work of two weeks ago, but still not under the big 35, which is my current target BMI.
Back to school on Thursday, so regular eating becomes easier - hopefully.
Good luck to those of you stupid enough to head into Perth for the fireworks. For those of you who are sensible, maybe I will see you at the Armadale fireworks. (Hello to those of you in Bunbury!)
Gerard.

Disasterous Week
Well it's Monday and therefore weigh in day. Weighed in this morning at 112.3 kg and a BMI of 35.44. Back to where we started!
Far be it for me to call BB a liar but I thought I had worked pretty hard this week.
Obviously need to work harder!

Monday Morning Weigh-in
Well blog followers,
We made a big effort to get up early this morning and so I have been on BB and he has told me the latest figures.
My BMI is down to 35.22 and my weight this morning is 111.6kg. For those of you who speak Wii, my WiiFit age is 31.
Not a bad start for the first week. Baby, here we come.

Shopping Centre Success and Some Medical Ramblings.
Hello blog followers,
Welcome back to another thrilling entry.
Today I survived a major shopping centre - well survived the food court really. Once upon a time in fat guy world, I would have stopped to get something to eat, which would have sent Sunny off on a round of "Do you really need that?" talk.
Today I went into the centre, got what I needed, and got out without stopping to get chips (which, let's face it, are my weakness and really the only thing you can eat while walking without risking looking like a complete fool).
The Wii Balance Board (BB) told me this morning that I have, in fact, been doing pretty well since I started - but I can't remember what it was, just that I am starting to shrink already. I'm pretty happy with that. I haven't completly cut all the crap out of my food intake (notice the avoidance of the "D" word), only the take away food from places like McDonalds and KFC. These are the types of places that I loved to get food from and they are the types of places that are specifically forbidden under the terms of the bet. With that in mind, as I start to trim the rubbish eating out of my program, I feel that good but sensible and maintainable losses are achievable.
I will most likely go back to using the Weight Watchers for Men program (which is basically the women's points program - but laid out for guys to use) which I used a couple of years ago with some pretty good short term success. Unfortunately it was in the two months or so leading up to Christmas of that year and never really got back on track in January. This year, I'm not running into it, just getting off the fat and sugar addictions slowly.
The problem I am having at the moment is caused by my medications. I was diagnosed a little over twelve months ago with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder - something I have most likely had all my life (obviously the version without the Adult header!). I take what the cool kids call "Dex" for this and it is doing wonders for my ability to get things done. I am finally getting some writing done and have, in fact, set up a new writing project with a friend of mine - a book for dads about becoming and being a dad.
I know I am wondering off track here (meds clearly worn off!) but I went to get a dad book for a new dad and discovered that there are very few (I could find none - but are giving the publishers the benifit of the doubt) books about parenting that are written for the non-custodial parent. Also, there seem to be very few for fathers at all. Not like the ones that are written for the mother with all the cool facts and developmental pieces of information. So that is why the book.
Anyway, the Dex suppress appetite in some kids and, it seems, me too. The problem there is that I don't tend to eat unless I'm hungry. So when the meds start to wear off at night, then I start to get really hungry. The next problem is that my night is now a lot longer that it was, because the Dex are a stimulant, which sees me able to stay up easily until the early hours of the morning without noticing. The not eating is harder when I'm not teaching because the school day is perfectly broken up for me to say "Now it is lunch time, take tablet and have something to eat."
I was only taking the ADD meds on teaching days, to avoid the late nights, but Sunny got sick and tired of me being focussed and motivated for all my school work and then not getting anything done around the house. So, I've started taking them most days now. We'll see how it goes.
It struck me two days ago that there is another important tablet, which I have not been taking at all. I also have Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (ATD) - which is a nice way of saying that my body is trying to kill my thyroid. I am supposed to take Tyroxin once a day, and have started doing so again. The thyroid helps run the metabolism and mine has to work overtime just to put out enough of its hormones to maintain a close to normal level. In fact, if my doctor hadn't gone looking for the problem, it would most likely not have been found. It doesn't show up on the normal thyroid test. Thank God she was on the ball!
Anyway, after what seems like a long winded whinge about minor medical crap, I just wanted to say that I had a great day and I am grateful that my problems (without down playing the dangers of being obese) are minor. My prayers tonight go out for all those whose medical problems are not minor.
Be good, and don't get hit by a bus.
